55 colleagues from around the world came together at our flagship container terminal – Jebel Ali – based in Dubai for a day of multiple emergency exercises…
Zero Harm is a core focus of our business and we aim to ensure our people are safe and working to the highest standard. With our global network, operating in different languages and cultures brings a diversity that could be challenging. But is also an opportunity as it contributes to our business, enhances practical hands on training and supports a positive safety culture.
As part of the annual Global Safety and Environment conference 55 safety and environment, operations and engineering representatives from different countries gathered for a day of dynamic training and teambuilding. The six emergency scenarios conducted ranged from chemical spills and crane operator rescues to lashers in the water, and acted as practical tests of the knowledge, preparedness and teamwork of the delegates.
We were delighted with how well the day went, and look forward to running similar events in the future. Colleagues who had never even met before worked together to deal with each emergency, illustrating the synergy between operations, engineering and safety in our culture. Thanks to the success of these teambuilding exercises, people have taken their new knowledge back to their business units around the world, where teamwork and Safety First will continue to be at the heart of everything we do.
