: Global container shipping consortium ‘THE Alliance’ has announced that all of its mainline UK calls will be handled by DP World, the Dubai-based global ports and logistics services company.

DP World Limited handled 63.7 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) across its global portfolio of container terminals in the full year of 2016, with gross container volumes growing by 3.2% year-on-year on a reported basis, and 2.2% on a like-for-like basis, which compares favourably to the industry estimated growth of 1.3% for 2016.

DP World has won the ‘Deal of the Year 2016’ and ‘UAE Deal of the Year 2016’ awards by the Islamic Finance News (IFN) for the USD 1.2 billion 3.908% 7-year Sukuk certificate issued in May 2016.
