Rising to the (fitness) challenge

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit and to challenge a status-quo. At DP World, we love taking on a new, exciting challenge for our people. Our task? For employees to commit to 30 minutes of daily activity for 30 days, starting 20 October 2017.

It’s part of our contribution to the first ever Dubai Fitness Challenge, a citywide initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum that aims to make Dubai the most active city in the world. We are delighted to be a strategic sponsor of an event that could be life-changing for many of our employees around the world. After all, a healthy mind and healthy body are good for work, for our business and in our private lives.

We all know that challenges are important for personal growth. Just read the biography of any successful businessperson or notable individual in history, and you will know that life was hardly ever smooth sailing for them. But they were fit and able for the challenges that faced them.

And the more innovative the challenge, the more likely it has the power to leave a legacy. Take the United Arab Emirates, for example – a classic example of a country that got itself in shape. A country that became fit for purpose – ready to develop its economy from scratch. It’s astonishing that it was only four decades ago that our leaders started their journey of development – but with ambition, drive and determination, they overcame all the hurdles to transform the UAE into a world leader.

So it’s hardly surprising that meeting the challenge is instilled in us, as individuals, institutions, citizens and expatriates. We have learned to welcome them, as we know they make us better, and fitter.

Join us… take the challenge… and commit to 30 minutes of daily activity for 30 days, starting 20 October 2017.
